I just love October! The air is a bit crisper, the leaves are a bit brighter, and the world feels a bit cozier. As we go into a new season I pray this beautiful reminder gives you hope and peace in all that is in store for you.
Napa and Celebrating my Best Friend’s Love
This past weekend we celebrated my beautiful sister and her upcoming wedding. We ventured to Napa for a day of stunning vineyards and time with her girls. It was truly the best day! One of my favorite parts about bachelorettes is seeing the friends from different seasons (Childhood, College and Adult Life). Avery is so beloved and just the best to celebrate! We went to Chandon and Alpha Omega Vineyards and it truly was the most incredible wine. If you find yourself in St. Helena soon I highly recommend those two spots and ending your day with a dinner at Restoration Hardware!
Recipes - Soup Group Swaps
Back when I taught at my first school one of my dearest co-worker friends, Mega, created the genius idea of a Soup Group. She cultivated a group of 5 teachers and each Monday we rotated who brought in a soup and little side for lunch. Not only did that mean we didn’t have to make lunches for Monday four or so Sunday evenings, but we got to start our week off with a delicious homemade new recipe waiting for us in the workroom.
Last week some of us from the group got together for a little reunion happy hour and all brought soups to swap. Now I have a yummy week of soups ahead and it couldn’t have come at a better time as the temperatures start to dip.
For my soup I made Bri McKoy’s Creamy, Lemony Chicken and Potato Soup and it is absolutely divine! The mascarpone and parmesan adds the most decadent touch and I alway recommend a little extra lemon juice too!
Enjoy!
Reading Corner
Good Energy
This was a book club book and I learned so much! It was all about the importance of metabolic health and creating habits that lead to good energy in your cells. With books like these I think it is always fascinating to see individual takeaways and the key habits/adjustments that resonate with each person. It led to some great book club discussions and I am excited to personally dig a bit deeper by:
adding in a quick walk after lunch each day
starting each day with protein and no natural sugars
being more intentional about eating things that I could make myself and avoiding seed oils in processed foods
Her website has a lot of great information and resources as well!
Favorite Four
Oyster Parties
This weekend some of our new friends hosted an Oyster Party and it was simply the perfect Saturday. They had a local business, Oyster Catcher Sea Farms, provide 900 raw and grilled oysters and Jordan and I went to town. They were so fresh and delicious and the gentleman with the company were so knowledgeable and encouraged some really delicious combinations.
Dresses
We know I love Tuckernuck through and through! I have chatted with at least 5 friends this week about how much we love the Blythe dress! It is also so cute and perfect for the holidays! I also recently got the Cream Floral and I am loving this cute print for fall. Two perfect dresses!
How cute is the print on the left and the bow on the right? Nobody Wants This
If you haven’t watched the show, Nobody Wants This, yet I highly recommend. While it has many current themes, there’s a wholesomeness to the show and you have yourself questioning why Adam Brody hasn’t been in more rom com shows before? I love the dynamic between the characters and can’t wait for season 2!
Fall Dried Flowers
These are the simplest fall decor but feel very festive and beautiful nonetheless. These are leftover from a dried floral wreath class I took years ago and I still pull them out each year with my fall decorations.
Thought
Fall always seems to fly by. In such a busy season (aren’t they all?) I hope you find some time to dwell and dilly dally. Whether it’s visiting a pumpkin patch, sipping a maple latte, or wandering on a nature trail to peeping the changing leaves I wish you some dillydally this week.
All my love,
Tate
