Happy Valentine’s Day Friends!
I was reminiscing today on the excitement of this day in elementary school. The glee of cutting out heart after heart and adding a small message and yummy candy or treasure for my classmates. Filling decorated paper bags to the brim with pink and purple and red. Reading each Valentine and loving the ones with legos and trucks as much as the ones with flowers and puppies. Giggling at some hilarious puns. Excitedly opening up a treat treasure: life saver gummies. The joy of feeling loved by all those around you.
What a beautiful reminder this is. The simple joy of being a child and pouring all your love onto your community. Cards from both your best friends and the people in class you didn’t know as well. Everyone taking the time to write out your name on a card. Valentine’s day in elementary school is the epitome of joy in love.
So I hope you remember today to embrace the Valentine’s Day enthusiasm, love, and warmth as you would if you were a child. That today isn’t just about romantic love, but about the love in your village. Your parents and your children. Your spouses and your friends. Your neighbors and your local baristas. This day is a reminder to love everyone and to love them well. And for me to remind you how much I love you!
With all my love,
Your Valentine
